Patio Cost Isn't One Number
Like driveways, patio cost depends on your specific site — not a national average. The terrain, soil conditions, and drainage requirements in Northeast Tennessee make every backyard different.
Key Cost Factors
Size
Bigger patios cost more total, but typically less per square foot. Our minimum is 300 square feet.
Drainage
A patio needs to slope away from your house to prevent water pooling against your foundation. Steeper lots or poor existing drainage may require more grading work.
Access
Backyard access matters. If a concrete truck can't reach the pour site, a pump truck may be needed, which adds cost.
Existing Surface
Pouring on prepared ground is simpler than removing an old patio, pulling up landscaping, or dealing with tree roots.
Ground Conditions
Clay soil (common in the Tri-Cities) may need additional base preparation compared to well-draining soil.
Shape
A simple rectangle is more efficient to form and pour than complex shapes with curves or multiple angles.
Thickness
Standard patio thickness is typically 4 inches. Areas that will support heavy furniture, hot tubs, or equipment may need additional thickness.
What's Included in a K&H Patio Quote
When we quote a patio, the price includes everything: permits, base material, concrete, reinforcement, forming, pouring, finishing (your choice of broom or slick), control joints, form removal, and cleanup. One number. No add-ons.
